JTWC has upgraded 27W into Tropical Storm today. The system is also about to approach Palau–located 500km to the west. TS 27W is moving westward at 25kph. Maximum winds range from 65kph to about 85kph.

As of posting time, the National Weather Service has issued a TROPICAL STORM WARNING for PALAU and a TROPICAL STORM WATCH for YAP. We expect conditions to deteriorate tonight and will get worse through early morning Thursday. Strong winds, rough waves, and heavy rain will persist for around 10 hours. Conditions should improve by tomorrow afternoon/early evening.
TS 27W will then continue tracking westward, intensifying along the way. JTWC is still expecting a typhoon out of this system, before it makes landfall in Mindanao by Friday.
