Long update today, starting with the Western Pacific we look at heavy rains in the PI today over 250mm in past 24 hours in some of the Washi devastated areas. With gale warnings posted for much of the Northern Portions of the Country as well. The Image below is a simple graphicshowing the rainfall accumulations in the past 24 hours. Data were collected from PAGASA, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and NASA’s TRMM. Please do note that there may be discrepancies with the data so please use them with caution.

Cyclone Thane is pushing through the Bay of Bengal today as well, currently the system is a tropical storm equivalent yet further intensification is likely as it moves in to increasingly favorable environments for further development. The East Coast of India needs to continue to watch this storm as it approaches.
