Philippines Forecast | January 23, 2012

As we have forecast 3-days ago, we are now seeing rains affecting parts of Southern Mindanao. Amounts have been light so far although continuous rains could produce minor flooding and landslides. This batch of showers are also bringing widespread rains to Borneo as seen on the satellite image (from NOAA) below.

As the showers move westward, we could see some rains affecting the Malay Peninsula and even Southern Vietnam tomorrow. However, these rains will be scattered and we are not expecting huge amounts of rainfall. As for Mindanao, scattered light rains will also continue for at least another 36 hours. We are also watching another weak wave approaching from the east which could affect the region by Thursday. Rest of the Philippines is quiet. Light rain showers could affect Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas as a weak cold front is forecast to dig southward later this Wednesday.

We’ll have another update by Thursday, stay safe!
