27 JAN 2012 Western Pacific Weather Update

The siberian High is in control of the weather pattern today, with it heavy snow is being seen along the west coast of japan with bitter cold temperatures seeping in from the continent.
To the south the PI is under gale warnings as the pressure gradient tightens with the high sinking to the south.

Cyclone Iggy Video Forecast 27 JAN 2012

Cyclone Iggy continues to pack Tropical Storm Strength winds as it gradually strengthens moving South East. At this time the BOM has issued Gale Warnings from Port Hedland to Coral Bay although high surf is expected to impact a much wider area along with rain bands being assisted by the Monsoonal trough as far East as the Top End. Therefore expect flooding rains at times and the possibility of a storm surge as the storm approaches the coast.
