Just a quick updates on today’s weather. The JTWC has labelled the ALPA in the PI as Invest 93W as we continue to monitor the progress of the ALPA moving westward crossing the area of Visayas and Mindanao bringing heavy precipitation over the area which is still recovering from the disastrous Tropical Storm Washi.
Information obtained from the WMO indicating that rainfall ranging from 70mm to 120mm has been collected over the past 24 to 48hours and the Pagasa continue to warn on the possibility of continuous rainfall in the coming hours as the ALPA moves its way out of the PI. The ALPA is currently located 130km East of Davao City (7.0°N, 126.8°E) and Pagasa warned that this weather system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao becoming widespread rains over Bicol Region, Eastern and Central Visayas and Northern and Eastern Mindanao. Landslide and flashfloods warning is being issued for residents in the low lying area and along the mountain slopes.
This ALPA however, was not expected to develop into anything yet as of today and JTWC has indicate that it has a low possibility (20%) of develop into anything significant as its mid-level circulation is displaced ahead of the true center. However, a few model has forecast that this system will develop at the west of Palawan in a couple days. Further information please refer Rob’s update video update yesterday HERE
