06 March 2012 Western Pacific & Eastern Asia Weather Update

A deep 1000hpa area of low pressure is pushing across Japan today bringing heavy rainfall and the potentiol for flooding conditions to the country today. This comes in the wake of a surge of rainfall from the same system that struck Eastern China on Sunday and Monday. In many areas to the West of Taiwan over 50-60mm of rainfall was reported in a 24hr period leading to some localized flooding in the region. Good news is Tuesday there will be a break in this activity as the low races across the Japanese Isles. Even there though totals are already climbing near 100mm of rainfall in the past 24hrs as the Rainy season stationary front persistantly sparks precipation in the region.  The analysis below shows these series of Low pressures and where rainfall is currently occuring in detail across the westerlies today.

KMA SURFACE ANALYSIS

continuing to push the low along expect improving conditions across the westerlies by Thursday. Although this will be short lived as the next developing Low Pressure area fires up in China by the end of the week.

In the tropics the Trade winds continue to dominate the weather. A weak disturbance is set to continue to push over the Philippines on Tuesday bringing rainfall to localized areas across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao today.  Check Pats update on the 5th for a more detailed forecast in the PI.

Else where in the tropics expect conditions to remain quite with the typical afternoon rainshowers and thunderstorms.
