Philippines 3-Day Forecast | March 14, 2012

Big change in the weather across the Philippines over the past few days. Gone are the mostly clear skies with temperatures rising into the mid 30s–for Luzon at least! Right now light rains continue to develop across Central and Eastern Luzon; while most rain amounts have been light, some places have received more than 100mm of rain since Monday. We expect another 30 to 50mm of rain before it tapers off later tomorrow. Much of the precipitation will start moving north and could bring rains into Baguio and parts of the Cordilleras. Overall, a gradual clearing is forecast over much of Luzon by the latter part of the week.

Visayas and Mindanao, meanwhile, is enjoying the relatively quiet weather. However, a weak shear line is bringing showers across Eastern Visayas and Northern Mindanao with rainfall amounts also reaching 100mm over the past few days. While the shear line is expected to weaken in 36 hours, a weak tropical disturbance is forecast to move into Mindanao by Saturday and eventually move into Visayas by Sunday.Still not overly confident with the forecast though, especially with this types of waves from the Pacific. Nevertheless, decided to put 60% for Davao and 50% for Cebu by Saturday. The chances could increase as we head into Sunday, if models are correct.

Not a very quiet stretch here for the next few days so do keep dropping by for the latest forecasts. Stay safe!
