Philippines 3-Day Forecast | March 20, 2012

Heavy rainfall continue to pound parts of the Philippines today, particularly in the Eastern Visayas regions. Nearly 250mm of rain has fallen in parts of Samar in the past 24 hours alone. Another 100mm of rain could fall in these areas in the next 24 to 36 hours increasing the likelihood of floods and landslides.

As LPA 96W slowly moves northwestward, expect rains to spread into Central Luzon (Manila) and parts of Central and Western Visayas (including Palawan). Depending on the progression of these low pressure system, expect the weather to start clearing by Thursday. There could be some light rain showers forming in Northern Luzon as a front dives down from the north.

Forecast Graphic, NOT OFFICIAL!

After 96W, our eyes will turn to Invest 95W which was spotted southeast of Palau. It has a weak surface circulation although chances of it developing into a cyclone are low. Still, some computer models are hinting that it could become a cyclone this weekend. Something to track definitely.

We’ll have our next update on March 23, Friday. If either of the LPAs develop before the 23rd, be sure to expect an in-depth update from us. Stay safe!
