Tropical Depression 09W (Ferdie) Afternoon Update

Here is our latest video update on Tropical Depression 09W (Bagyong Ferdie) which is now moving into the South China Sea/West Philippine Sea. The system is forecast to stay south of Hong Kong tomorrow and will head towards the Guangzhou Province in China and possibly towards Vietnam by early next week.

Even though the system is moving away from Luzon, Signal #1 remains in effect for Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Abra. Furthermore, the continued enhancement of the SW Monsoon is bringing light to moderate rains across many parts of Luzon, Palawan, and Visayas. Areas in Central and Southern Luzon, including Manila, have already recorded more than 100mm in the past 24 hours and more could be on the way tonight. Fortunately, as 09W moves to the west, we expect the SW Monsoon to gradually weaken leading to drier weather in the next few days.

Please continue monitoring your country’s weather bureau (HKO, PAGASA, JMA, etc) for the latest warnings and forecasts for our area. Stay safe!
