Tropical Storm Saola (Gener) Afternoon Video Update

This is our afternoon Video Update on Tropical Storm Saola (Bagyong Gener) which was last located approximately 280km northeast of Virac, Catanduanes. Signal Warning #1 has now been issued by PAGASA for Isabela, Cagayan, Calayan, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Islands in anticipation of the storm. While the core of the storm is offshore, feeder bands are bringing widespread rains across Visayas and Northern Mindanao with amounts of up to 80mm recorded in many areas in the past 24 hours.

These rains will slowly move towards Southern and Central Luzon. Saola is forecast to continue moving to the northwest but is not expected to make landfall in Luzon. It could still move close enough to bring strong winds and heavy rain especially on the eastern part of Luzon. Current forecasts are taking Saola towards Taiwan by early next week as a possible Typhoon.
