New Tropical Depression Lawin Afternoon Update September 20, 2012

A new Tropical Cyclone has formed in the Western Pacific. JMA has upgraded Invest 92W to a Tropical Depression and so has PAGASA; the latter giving this system a local name of ‘Bagyong Lawin’. Note that the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) hasn’t upgraded 92W yet to a depression.

TD Lawin is forecast to continue moving westward and could become a Tropical Storm by tomorrow. Forecasts are still a little murky as computer models are showing varied solutions for this system. Nevertheless, Lawin could impact the Philippines–one way or another–in the next 2 to 3 days.
