Former Tropical Storm Maliksi has now fully transitioned into an extra-tropical cyclone. The system is moving across the Northern Pacific well away from Japan. Maliksi is no longer being warned upon by JTWC and JMA.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Gaemi has weakened as it meanders west of Luzon. An increase in wind shear has left the low-level center of the system exposed with much of the convection displaced to the west.

As of 5pm this afternoon, PAGASA continues to issued Public Storm Warning Signal #1 for Zambales and Bataan provinces for the threat of strong winds of up to 60kph along with rough waves.

Despite the proximity to Luzon, rains from Gaemi are not impacting the island. However, rough waves continue to batter the western seaboard disrupting sea travel and could definitely be dangerous who venture out to sea. These conditions will be dangerous for sea travel and has actually claimed the lives of two Taiwanese as their boat capsized near Boracay yesterday (click HERE for the story by Weather Guy Adonise). More recently, a fisherman was reported missing in Batangas (nearer to Gaemi) after the boat capsized.

Gaemi is forecast to move westward and could make landfall in Vietnam by Sunday.
