Typhoon Prapiroon has intensified slightly overnight and has also begun to move northward. The system remains inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility but is far enough to not impact any land here in the Western Pacific. Prapiroon is forecast to continue moving northward and then turn northeastward according to the latest consensus. However, Japan Meteorological Agency is maintaining its forecast of a turn to the northwest, perhaps moving near Okinawa in the next 3 days or so.

Even though the Joint Typhoon Warning Center and the computer models are showing a turn to the northeast away from the Japanese Islands, uncertainties still remain and so we suggest viewers from Okinawa and nearby islands to continue watching the developments of this system.

Stay safe!
