PAGASA has now placed Batanes Group of Islands under Public Storm Warning Signal #2. Meanwhile, the Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan has issued a Sea Typhoon Warning this afternoon and will likely expand those warnings inland later tonight. All of these, as we watch Typhoon Matmo move closer to Taiwan. Watch WxCaster PAT’s latest Video Update for more in-depth analysis and forecasts for Matmo (Bagyong Henry).
Typhoon Matmo is also starting to show signs of improvement as the wind shear weakens in the region. We could see intensification resume tonight and c0ntinue through tomorrow morning. Right now, the forecast consensus is showing Matmo making landfall in Northern Taiwan by tomorrow afternoon bringing strong and damaging winds, along with the threat of widespread heavy rains.
After Taiwan, Matmo is forecast to move into Eastern China and will likely affect the provinces of Fujian, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu in the coming days. Even Shanghai may see strong winds and heavy rains later this week.
If you are living in Taiwan, please follow the forecasts and warnings of your local officials! And as always, keep updated on our website. Stay safe!
