The Siberian surge ends over Asia as temperatures moderate in the north, and warm up quickly in the central region. The south will see another hot day, and the tropics are heating up a bit as well.
NORTH
The air mass responsible for last weekend’s cold “Siberian surge” is moderating quickly as it slides to the east and out of the picture. Temperatures across the north region are moderating a bit, slowly warming with each passing day. Another shot of cold air will slide down into the region starting tomorrow, but it will be a weaker surge than the previous one, so temperatures will be reflective of more normal values as we head into next weekend. Weather across the region should be good today, except for southern locales, where a new storm system moving through southern China will stir up clouds and showers.

CENTRAL
Temperatures are warming up much more quickly across the central region, as the cold air mass warms up in the more intense afternoon sunshine of the more southerly latitudes. It will be a pretty raw day across much of the region as a new storm system develops over southern China today and slides through the region, bringing considerable cloudiness and showers activity to many locations.

SOUTH
The more northerly locales of the southern region have been fortunate to see some effects of the recent “Siberian surge”, with slightly lower temperatures and humidity levels. Today marks the beginning of the end of that scenario, as the air mass moderates under the intense sunshine and ambient regional moisture begins to work into the overall atmospheric profile. Portions of Indochina will once again see the warmest temperatures of the region, but will be at lower levels than this weekend. Most locations will see scattered clouds amidst plentiful sunshine, with Singapore being the notable exception, expecting a good chance for afternoon thunderstorms.

TROPICS
The tropics remain mostly quiet today, but there is a bit of enhanced activity located within the I.T.C.Z. (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone) in eastern Micronesia. Long-range computer models are hunting at this area to develop into a very weak low pressure area, and move into the Philippines early next week, bringing some beneficial rainfall to the archipelago and Micronesia. For today, clouds and showers will be restricted to eastern Micronesia, while everyone else will enjoy scattered clouds and lots of sunshine.
