As we end another work week, we find the coldest weather in the north region while parts of the central region dry out and cool off a bit. The south is still hot but there is some rainfall relief in sight for the Philippines, and the tropics remain placid as we head into the weekend.
NORTH
Cold air stays locked in over the north region, but temperatures are moderating across most of the region. Another weak push of cooler air is starting to show itself in the western portion of the region, but most of this air mass will press to the south and east over the next few days. There’s a hodgepodge of various weak weather ripples moving across the region, but none have the impact to bring about inclement conditions. High pressure is firmly in place, so skies will be mostly sunny with just a few scattered clouds across the entire north region to end the week.

CENTRAL
Temperatures are holding mostly steady across much of the central region as it dries out just a bit as well. The lone exception is Taiwan, which is still dealing with numerous rain showers as the colder air is lifted up over the tall mountains of the island. There will be a few clouds far to the east as Iwo Jima deals with an incoming low pressure area along the cold front from the southwest. Everyone else should see an enjoyably cool day, devoid of clouds and precipitation.

SOUTH
More sweltering heat will affect the south region today, especially over southern portions of Indochina as the skies stay mostly clear over the Southeast Asian peninsula. The Philippines could see some much-needed drought relief as a low pressure area forms to the northeast of the island of Luzon and races off to the northeast along the frontal boundary. This will drag some cooler air to the south, and combine with some lingering moisture to help fire off some showers and thunderstorms along the boundary, especially over the northern one-third of the country. Singapore will also see their daily dose of thunderstorms, as tropical moisture gets lifted the afternoon heat. Everyone else will see a hot, but dry, day as the sun shines brightly with just a few scattered clouds.

TROPICS
The tropics are still very quiet, with no organized areas of disturbed weather to watch at this time. A relatively active, but weak, tropical wave is located far to the east in the Marshall Islands, but this area is not expected to develop in any way. Wake Island could see some showers as they deal with a wave of continental energy, but everyone else will see a beautiful day free of precipitation.
