A bit of a warm-up is ahead for the north and central regions, while the south remains hot and the tropics kick up a few showers and thunderstorms.
NORTH
A storm system currently passing through Japan will keep temperatures cool across the eastern half of the north region today, while areas to the west and south warm up considerably as the cold air boundary pulls up stationary and starts to retreat to the north. The entire region will see warming temperatures ahead a slight cool-down this weekend and a sharp drop next week. Parts of northern Japan will see clouds and showers, with a few snow showers as well, as the storm system moves out of the area over the next 24 hours. The remainder of the north region will see mostly fair weather, and mild temperatures, under lots of sunshine.

CENTRAL
The central region will see temperatures moderate also, as warmer air from the south starts to creep its way northward across the region. The best news is that most areas that have been dealing with a steady dose of moisture over the past couple of weeks will see much drier conditions today. The entirety of the central region will enjoy a rather pleasant day, with plenty of warm sunshine mixed in with a few scattered clouds.

SOUTH
It’s still darn hot in the south region; however, some cooler air has filtered in from the north across southeastern Asia, helping moderate temperatures just a tiny bit across Cambodia and southern Vietnam. Most locations across the south region will see a fine day today, with Singapore being the lone exception, with a chance of thunderstorms popping up in the mid-afternoon heat.

TROPICS
The tropics remain mostly calm and quiet today, with just a bit of convergent energy located out east in Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. A trough associated with an old frontal boundary will help increase rain chances across western Micronesia as well, but coverage will be minimal. The Mariana Islands and Wake continue to deal with pulses of continental energy, which could help fire off a few scattered thunderstorms over Guam this afternoon. The remainder of the region will see a mix of clouds and sun with warm, tropical temperatures.
