Spring has sprung for the most part in the north and central regions, as summer settles into the south region. The tropics are looking more impressive, but there’s no real development in the cards at this time.
NORTH
Spring-like temperatures continue to build across the north region as we kick off the new work week. The leading edge of the latest cool air surge is undulating to the east of the region, with a couple of low pressure systems riding along the boundary south, and east of Japan. These storm systems ride along the boundary and bring plenty of rain and some gusty winds to southern and central Japan today, as the overall boundary works slowly eastward. Central China will see some clouds as a weak storm system approaches from the west. Another shot of reinforcing cool and dry air is also moving into Mongolia. Otherwise, the north region will see lots of sunshine with just a few scattered clouds.

CENTRAL
Cooler air behind the latest frontal system has cooled temperatures just a bit over the weekend, but the changes have been minimal. The frontal system associated with the cooler air surge is located to the east of Taiwan, helping bring periods of rain to the island. The remainder of the region has cleared out for the most part, and temperatures are expected to warm up to springtime levels during the week.

SOUTH
Following a slightly cooler weekend, the heat will start to build once again across the south region, particularly Southeastern Asia. High temperatures coupled with building humidity could make outdoor activities risky in the middle of the day across the region. Aside from Singapore, which will see the usual dose of afternoon thunderstorms, the south region will see lots of hot sunshine.

TROPICS
The tropics remain quiet as the I.T.C.Z. (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone) stays depressed in both activity and latitude. Two easterly waves are migrating along the ITCZ, offering up a good chance of clouds and scattered showers to parts of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. The northern islands of Guam and Wake are still seeing most of their weather influenced by the strong seasonal northeast monsoon, which continues to see reinforcing energy from continental air masses sliding by to the north.
