NWPAC outlook, 28 MAR

NWPAC outlook, 28 MAR

Cooler temperatures creep into parts of the north region, as the weather stays mostly nice across the central region. The heat cranks up once again in the south region, and the tropics pose no threat.

NORTH

A bit of cooler air has started moving into the north region from Siberia, as a storm system migrates eastward across Mongolia, northern China, and into eastern Russia over the next 24-48 hours. Temperatures behind the frontal system are noticeably cooler, but moisture is scarce, therefore, precipitation is rather isolated. Another storm system is located to the east of Japan, and is moving away, but some rain showers are possible over eastern prefectures along a weak trough extending westward from the low pressure area located well offshore. The rest of the north region will see a nice day, with warm spring temperatures and plenty of sunshine.

Xi’an 24 (75) 10 (50) Partly Cloudy
Shanghai 19 (66) 9 (48) Fair

CENTRAL

Spring weather is well in place across the central region, as high pressure builds into the region and temperatures moderate within the high pressure area currently in place. A weak impulse of energy and moisture is located in the western extent of the region, bringing a few showers to western China. The remainder of the central region will see a nice day, with warming temperatures and just a few scattered clouds.

 SOUTH

The heat is back in place across the majority of the south region, as temperatures soar over Southeast Asia. Northern locales of the Philippines are seeing a bit of relief, thanks to a cool surge that has moved into the area. Some moisture will pool along the Sierra Madre Mountains, and the eastern seaboard, of the island of Luzon as the seasonal northeast monsoon get a bit of reinforcement with high pressure building in. Warm air advection is making for a hot day across the southern Philippines as well, with dangerously high heat indices expected in Mindanao. Singapore will see a few scattered afternoon showers today, but the rest of the region will see lots of intense sunshine and just a few scattered clouds.

 TROPICS

The tropics are mostly quiet, as weak wind convergence continues across the most southerly latitudes within the I.T.C.Z. (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone). The convergent energy is draped along the entirety of the region from Micronesia to the Marshall Islands, but with no real focusing mechanism, rainfall will be sparse. Temperatures continue to be a bit cooler across northern locations within the region, as continental air masses affect these areas. Aside from mostly cloudy conditions in eastern Micronesia, everyone should see a pretty nice day with lots of sunshine.
