Cooler air moves into the extreme sections of the north region, while temperatures keep climbing in the central region. More heat is on tap for the south region, as the tropics heat up, but stay mostly silent.
NORTH
A complex weather scenario is playing out today across the north region, as cooler air moves into Mongolia behind one storm system to the north, and a fairly large storm system gets organized over eastern China, poised to affect Japan over the next 36 hours. The biggest changes are in the north, where Mongolia will see a few snow showers today as a shot of much cooler air slides through from west to east. The air mass behind the first frontal system is serving to only maintain mostly drier conditions over much of the region. Aside from a few showers in eastern China, the region will see lots of warm sunshine with a few scattered clouds.

CENTRAL
Temperatures across the central region continue to rise, as the warm sunshine heats up the atmosphere over the region. A stationary frontal system draped over the region will drag in a few clouds over portions of southern China and northern Vietnam, but significant precipitation is not expected. Most of the region will see a nice, warm day today, with just a few scattered clouds.

SOUTH
Intense heat continues to affect the south region, especially over Southeast Asia, as the summer season gets into full swing. The regional average high temperature will settle in just above 34C (93F), with temperatures approaching 37C (99F) across interior Indochina. The good news is that the region will enjoy a rain-free day, as locations to the south dry up a bit. Look for lots of hot sunshine this afternoon with just a few scattered clouds in some spots.

TROPICS
The tropics remain relatively quiet today, as temperatures slowly climb each day. One flare-up of convergence over western Micronesia and the Marshall Islands is quite impressive on satellite, but aside from a few showers and thunderstorms, there’s not much to it. Most of the region will see plenty of warm sunshine today, and a cloud or two here and there.
