The north region clears out a bit as unsettled weather works its way south into the central region. It’s another hot day in the south region, but some areas to the east could see relief as moisture continues to move in from the otherwise quiet tropics.
NORTH
A pair of frontal systems will work through the northeastern portion of the north region, leaving behind drier and slightly cooler air as we roll through the eve of the weekend. Clouds will linger over eastern China and Japan as the storm system slides away, while clouds will increase in the west ahead of another developing storm system along the boundary. Temperatures are still very warm across the region, but there are signs of a bit of a cool-down as we get into the latter part of the upcoming weekend and into early next week, which will help bring temperatures down to more seasonable levels.

CENTRAL
Clouds and showers have pushed into parts of the central region today, as a cold front sags southward slowly and stalls out in the region. Another ripple of energy will develop along the boundary today and tonight, which will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to southeastern China and Taiwan, and cloudy skies to southern China and northern Vietnam. Temperatures will remain warm across the region as cooler air stays well to the north.

SOUTH
It will be another day of intense and dangerous heat for much of the south region, as the bright sunshine hangs overhead a little bit longer each day and the humidity increases due to a strong easterly flow from the tropics. Heat indices could approach 43C (109F) across portions of interior Indochina, therefore, it is advised that activities be restricted to early morning or evening to avoid the risk of heat exposure. The Philippines could see some welcome relief from the exasperating drought conditions over the next several days, as a plume of tropical moisture moves into the southern two-thirds of the archipelago. Tropical moisture will be on tap for more southerly locations as well, with a chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms across Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia.

TROPICS
Activity along the I.T.C.Z. (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone) is still quite muted, with a pulse of energy located between 130E-145E, south of 10N, drifting slowly westward. This wave will move into the southern Philippines over the next several days, helping relieve the nation of the severe drought conditions that prevail there. Elsewhere, scattered showers will be possible throughout the region, but most locations should see partly cloudy skies and very warm temperatures.
