Warm, summer-like conditions spread across most of the north region, while the central region continues to deal with the seasonal East Asian monsoon. The south is hot too, but much-welcomed shower activity brings relief in the afternoon. The tropics stay mostly quiet and well-behaved.
NORTH
Summer warmth is progressing northward across the north region, as afternoon highs climb upward with each passing day. Most of the inclement weather will take place across the southern portion of the region, as an undulating cold front slowly gathers into another strong pulse of energy for the East Asian monsoon to digest in the coming days. Most locations across the region will see a nice afternoon, with scattered clouds and lots of sunshine, while portions of the south will see a good chance for showers.

CENTRAL
Parts of the central region will deal with energy and moisture from the East Asian monsoon and méiyǔ front today, while areas to the south will see intense summertime heat set in. A frontal system has slid into the northeastern portion of the region, bringing a good chance for thunderstorms in the Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan. Clouds decrease across the region as you travel to the west and south. This decrease in cloudiness will allow a very intense sun to beam down and really heat things up in some spots across southern China and northern Vietnam this afternoon. There is still a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms over the flood-ravaged higher terrain of southeastern China, as the topography gives the ample moisture a bit of a lift with the daytime heating. However, storm coverage is expected to be much less than in previous days.

SOUTH
The south region will see another day of typical summer weather, with plenty of warm sunshine to start the day, and afternoon showers and thunderstorms to help cool things off just a bit. Tropical energy is sliding across the southern Philippines, with another tropical trough located just to the west of the Philippines. These two features will help destabilize the atmosphere enough for thunderstorms to develop across parts of the archipelago. A semi-permanent monsoon trough is located over the southern coast of the Southeast Asian peninsula, but the north side of the trough is a bit dry today, so fewer storms can be expected over the land areas.

TROPICS
It’s another day of quiet, boring weather across the tropics, with very little in the way of threatening weather to consider at all. We have three trough features bringing some clouds and showers to parts of the region. Two are located on either side of the Philippines, while a third is far to the east in the Marshall Islands. A semi-permanent monsoon trough is in place over southern Vietnam, but the atmosphere is a bit drier around this feature at present. Overall, there are no tropical threats out there, and most locations will see a day of morning sun and afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
