Weak pulses of energy are traversing the warming north region as the méiyǔ energy sags southward into the central region, bringing flooding rainfall to some areas. The south remains warm and wet in spots, and the tropics stay quiet for the time being.
NORTH
A moderate storm system is moving through the eastern half of the north region today, tapping into méiyǔ moisture to the south to bring a good chance for clouds and showers to eastern China, southeastern Russia, Korea, and Japan. Another weak pulse is moving through Mongolia, but it’s a rather dry and warm system, so only a few clouds will pop up along its way. Temperatures are warm across the region, especially over parts of central China, where a gap in weather systems will allow the sun to shine through and heat things up a bit.

CENTRAL
Méiyǔ energy stays locked in over much of the central region today, in the form of a stalled frontal system that stretches along the entire Chinese seaboard back to northern Vietnam. This frontal system will be the focus of more flooding rainfall today, especially in the higher terrain of southeastern China. Taiwan will get a bit of a much-needed break today as most of the energy stays to the north of the island. The remainder of the region will see afternoon thunderstorms fire up in the heat of the day, with locally heavy showers possible.

SOUTH
The south region will be mostly quiet today, as deep tropical moisture continues to settle in over the region and pockets of it gets heated up quite nicely and lifted up to generate showers and occasional thunderstorms. Showers and storms will be more likely in the northern half of the region, due to ripples of continental energy combining with weak pulses from the tropics and ample moisture. Temperatures will be warmest in parts of interior Indochina, and very near seasonal norms elsewhere.

TROPICS
For yet another day, the tropics show no signs of any disturbed weather of consequence. A few weak pulses of energy are embedded in the general flow of the ITCZ (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone), drifting slowly westward across the region. Most locations can expect a decent chance for a scattered shower of thunderstorms as the afternoon heat peaks.
