Moisture and energy continue to pelt parts of the north region as the central region deals with their own torrential downpour troubles. The south region will also see a warm and wet day and the tropics are showing hints of something developing in the coming days.
NORTH
After several days of incessant rain over much of the north region, eastern parts of the region will get a break today while clouds and showers increase over the continent. A slow-moving frontal system is draped over the middle of the region, bringing a round of wet weather to southeastern Russia, Korea, and interior central China. Where the clouds and rain don’t show up, temperatures will be seasonably warm with lots of sunshine.

CENTRAL
The méiyǔ moisture and energy continue to assault the central region with clouds, showers, and thunderstorms today, as a new frontal boundary stalls over the region, helping provide some additional lift and energy for the development of showers and occasional thunderstorms. Most of the rainfall will be held back over the continental locales, while the islands offshore see a bit of a break with just a few clouds and warm afternoon temperatures.

SOUTH
Plentiful moisture is well entrenched over the south region, however, there’s not much in the way of energy to help organize into any sort of a threat. The intense, tropical sunshine will run its usual course, helping lighten the atmosphere a bit and allowing the moisture to lift up, where it will form into scattered clouds, showers, and thunderstorms to cool off what should be a toasty midday.

TROPICS
Although the tropics have been quiet this week, following a brief surge of activity the week before, there are signs that there will be more activity afoot very soon. The latest runs of the G.F.S. (Global Forecasting System) computer forecast models are showing development of a low-pressure area in western Micronesia this weekend, with a possible track parallel to the eastern seaboard of the Philippines and into Taiwan and southeastern China next week. We will keep a close watch on things and let you know what’s developing. Elsewhere across the tropics, general convergence will lend a hand towards development of scattered showers and thunderstorms that may bring a damper to an otherwise beautiful day in the islands.
