Daily weather brief – Thursday, July 14, 2016

Landslides and flooding plague parts of Japan as remnants of NEPARTAK team up with what’s left of the méiyǔ front. For more on this breaking story, please see the report by Meteorologist Rob Speta here. Elsewhere across the north region, a welcome shot of much cooler air brings down temperatures across Mongolia, and parts of interior China, as showers and thunderstorms linger to the south.

The central region will also see a good chance for showers and thunderstorms as a stalled frontal system washes out overhead.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms will pop up across much of the south region this afternoon as tropical moisture gets a lift from the afternoon sun.

The tropics are still quiet, and are FORECAST to stay that way however, we are watching the remnants of what was 91W for its potential for possible development in the coming days.
