NORTH
The change of seasons continues across much of the north region as a new shot of colder Siberian air moves into the region. Temperatures have remained at or below freezing over Mongolia, and very near freezing over portions of northern China as high pressure builds in from the northwest. The main push of cold air remains poised to move through behind a frontal system stretching from southeastern Russia, across North Korea, and back into north-central China. And earlier system is moving offshore of Japan, helping to open the door a bit to the cooler surge later this week. Skies will be cloudy with scattered showers along the old front as it presses to the southeast, primarily affecting locations of mainland East Asia.

CENTRAL
The cooler air will stay north of the central region for the remainder of this week, but there are hints of a relatively strong surge pushing through next week. For today, it will be a warm and sunny day across southeastern China, and in the maritime locations of the region. A few thunderstorms are possible in the high country of south-central China, extending to the south through southern China and northern Indochina.

SOUTH
The south region will see another day of fairly unremarkable weather, as deep moisture remains in place across the southern locales, and slightly drier air affects portions of the northern Philippines. The warm afternoon sun will lift up some of this moisture and help generate a few showers and thunderstorms across most of the region today, but coverage will be scattered in nature.

TROPICS
The tropics remain mostly quiet for now, but we do have a couple of areas of disturbed weather that official agencies are taking a look at.
97W INVEST is located in the far eastern portion of the region, out near the Marshall Islands. This system shows no real signs of enhanced development and long-range forecast models do nothing with this system as it tracks slowly to the west in the general flow of the I.T.C.Z. (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone). 98W INVEST, located in the Gulf of Thailand, is a bit more impressive as it includes a weak low-level low pressure area, but as with the other system, models show no real development as it slide out of the basin in the next couple of days.
Another spot to take note of is a rather strong area of convergence located south of the Philippines. Global models are suggesting the possible formation of a weak system next week, with a general track towards Vietnam. Overall, showers and thunderstorms within the region will be enhanced for eastern locations, while everyone else will see the usual daily dose of scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
