NWPAC outlook, 09 NOV

NORTH

CENTRAL

The newest Siberian surge has pushed through most of the central region, with the leading edge of the air mass moving along in a wide northeast to southwest arc from just offshore of the Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, and southeastern China. Clouds and showers along the front and just behind will keep conditions damp and clammy as cooler air filters in during the day.

SOUTH

The south region has quieted own into a typical mid-autumn scenario, with lots of moisture over the southern half of the region, and slightly drier air filtering into northern locales on the heels of the seasonal northeast monsoon. High pressure continues to dominate the northern half of the Philippines, bringing clear to partly cloudy skies, while moisture remains to the west and south, helping stir up afternoon showers and thunderstorms over Indochina, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, northern Indonesia, and the southern Philippines.

TROPICS

With the exit of MEARI. We find only one weak disturbance to keep an eye on at the moment.

TAAG, 09 NOV

TAAG, 09 NOV

95W INVEST looks rather impressive on satellite photographs, with a distinct circulation point and flaring convection with a decent outflow. The system is very compact due to relatively dry air in the vicinity. VWS (Vertical Wind Shear) is moderate, in the 15-20 knot range, so development is not expected in the near-term. Computer models are not doing much with this system in the long-term, showing dissipation within the next 48 hours.

The remainder of the tropical locales will see a pretty good chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with more widely scattered activity in the east.
