NORTH
Temperatures across the north region will rebound just a bit ahead of a new surge of colder air coming down from the northwest. Portions of Mongolia and northern China are already feeling the effects of this new rush of cold air as temperatures drop into bitter below-zero readings to stay. Slightly warmer air ahead of the new front is causing a bit of a bump in temperatures across the region, which will fall again from west to east over the next 48 hours. Clouds and showers will linger over the Korean peninsula and the Japanese archipelago, while the remainder of the region can look forward to just a few scattered clouds.

SOUTH
Slightly drier air has filtered down into the northern portions of the south region, as much of Indochina and the northern half of the Philippines will see a warm day with scattered clouds. The southern half of the region remains mired in deep tropical moisture, and with a lift from the warm afternoon sun, will see a good chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms.

TROPICS
95W INVEST has been upgraded to tropical depression 25W, while another weak tropical depression springs up to the southeast.
What was 95W INVEST has been upgraded to a tropical depression by both J.M.A. (Japan Meteorological Agency) and the J.T.W.C. (Joint Typhoon Warning Center) as it slowly gathers strength east of the Mariana Islands. Conditions are not favorable for a significant strengthening event, so this system is expected to stay relatively weak as it tracks slowly to the NW. long-range models are doing nothing at all with this system, and it will likely dissipate in the coming days.
96W INVEST has been designated near the Marshall Islands/Micronesia boundary, and is actually quite impressive on satellite photos with a clear L.L.C.C. (Low-Level Circulation Center) and some banding of showers and clouds. Long-range computer models aren’t doing much with this system either, as more unfavorable atmospheric conditions are expected to set up across the region in the coming days.
With the two tropical disturbances, we find quite a bit of cloudiness and showers activity across much of the tropics. Wake Island and Guam will see the best weather, with everyone else likely getting a few showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.
