NORTH
High pressure is building into the north region as the latest Siberian surge pushes through the region. Temperatures are quite cold in the northern half of the region, while areas to the east and south are seeing much milder temperatures. A weak storm system is rolling through the Korean peninsula and Japan today, but moisture is limited with this system, so these locations will only see a few passing clouds as the system moves through. Low clouds and fog will hinder travel in the higher terrain of central China, while the remainder of the region enjoys sunshine and scattered clouds.

CENTRAL
Temperatures are holding steady across the central region as a new surge from the north approaches the region. Fog and low clouds will make for a dreary day in the higher terrain of south-central China, and scattered showers will once again pelt portions of Taiwan, but the remainder of the region should see just a few clouds mixed in with sunshine this afternoon.

SOUTH
Drier air has filtered down into portions of the south region, evidenced by the increased diurnal temperature differences and a general decrease in cloud cover. A stalled frontal system just north of the Philippines could be a focal point for weak areas of low pressure to generate and slide northeastward over the next couple of days. Temperatures are still quite warm across the region, and the southern half of the region continues to be quite moist and tropical. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible across much of the region, except over Indochina, where the sun will shine through just a few clouds.

TROPICS
The tropics appear to be drying out quite a bit and convergence continues along the very depressed I.T.C.Z. (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone)
Recent continental surges have succeeded in drying out the general moisture profile of the tropics and have also pushed the I.T.C.Z. quite far to the south, where some scattered areas of convergence continue to crop up. Long-range forecast models aren’t showing any real development of out there, but do show some cold-core systems spinning up in the South China Sea and Philippine Sea along stalled frontal systems to the north. For today, northerly locales within the region ill see plenty of sunshine while areas to the south will still encounter scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
