Bottom Line Up Front: ITCZ bringing heavy showers across portions of Micronesia
Active Storms: None
5-Day Tropical Discussion:
A weak trough is moving out of Chuuk state of Micronesia this evening, spreading periods of heavy rainfall. This area will be monitored over the next 5 days as it slowly moves westward. Moisture and convection is expected to persist and intensify over this time period. As a result, this may become the next invest area to watch. However, at this time, the forecast keeps it as a vigorous tropical disturbance without developing further. Heavy showers associated with this disturbance are expected to spread over the western Caroline Islands throughout this period.
Over the eastern Caroline Islands, an active area of the ITCZ exists. This will continue to spread heavy showers across Kosrae and Pohnpei states of Micronesia. Elsewhere in the Western Pacific, tropical cyclone development is not expected to occur over the next five days.
Until next time, have a great day and take care. -Mike
