Western Pacific Tropical Update – 28 March 2017

Bottom Line Up Front: Tropical disturbance bring showers across Micronesia

Tropical Analysis – 28 March 2017 0600 UTC

Active Storms: None

5-Day Tropical Discussion:
An area of convergence persists across eastern Yap state this evening, spreading periods of heavy rainfall, mainly south of the Caroline Islands.  This area will be monitored over the next 5 days as it slowly moves westward.  It should largely hold together as an area convergence, spreading increased moisture across the Philippines this weekend.  No tropical cyclone development is anticipated at this time.

Over the eastern Caroline Islands, an active area of the ITCZ exists.  This will continue to spread heavy showers across Chuuk and Pohnpei states.  Elsewhere in the Western Pacific, tropical cyclone development is not expected to occur over the next five days.

Until next time, have a great day and take care. -Mike
