Tembin/Vinta pushes forward toward the west

Good afternoon from the Western Pacific Weather team.

Tembin/Vinta is crossing over Mindanao and is continuing its westward trek. The storm, which was a severe tropical storm for about 12 hours, has weakened as it interacted with the land area of the southern Philippines.

Radar indicates that much of the heavy rainfall that was much more widespread during the morning hours has become scattered in nature, meaning some areas are still seeing downpours while others are seeing much calmer conditions. Satellite indicates a dry slot that has also entered the storm, allowing a break in the clouds.

Expect Tembin to continue moving westward over the weekend, possibly intensifying once again over open waters before impacting the Indochina Peninsula, particularly Vietnam by mid-week next week.
