MULTIPLE TROPICAL AREAS IN THE WESTERN PACIFIC

We now have three named storms in the western pacific, from Lupit to Mirinae to now Nida south of Japan. All three are moving north east towards Japan.

JMA has named Tropical Storm Lupit south of Hong Kong. This is the 9th named storm of the 2021 Typhoon Season. The big issue with this guy is not so much the storm but the overall monsoonal flow it is embedded with along with the other tropical area near Okinawa. Both are going to bring rainfall from SE China to Taiwan to South-Western Japan.

This will bring plenty of rainfall across south western Taiwan, a few areas of flooding and local landslides in the mountains facing the west is possible here.

Meanwhile Mirinae is near Okinawa, that storm is bringing windy conditions in the southern Japanese islands and could eventually usher in some rough weather for the Olympics during the weekend.
