Lupit, Mirinae and the Monsoonal Flow.

Japan has felt the impact from not one but two tropical systems at the same time today. This as Lupit and Mirinae both embedded in the same monsoonal trough cruise over the country.

The storm is also making for some interesting weather from a dynamic perspective, we almost have a Fujiwhara effect today but not quite there. I explain why in the video above.

Lupit absolutely dropped an astounding amount of rainfall across Taiwan as totals pushed over 1000mm in the southeast portions of the island. The graphic below shows just how much as fallen there.

The storm is now pushing over the southern Japanese islands and moving north east through Japan this coming Monday-Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mirinae is pushing past Tokyo today with some breezy conditions as the Olympics come close to an end.

Plus the video below is the local forecast for the weather across the Philippines today.
