Today, a series of tropical waves are influencing the weather across the Philippines, resulting in scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. These weather patterns are primarily associated with the Southwest Monsoon, also known as the “Habagat.” The Southwest Monsoon brings moist, warm air from the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea, leading to increased rainfall and cooler temperatures in the region.
Some of these thunderstorms may produce moderate to heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. On Tuesday evening, one of these storms even generated a tornado in Boracay, showcasing the intense nature of these weather systems.
Looking ahead, the tropical forecast appears relatively calm. Current weather models show little indication of significant tropical development in the near future.
Here is look at the broader climate picture in the Philippines.
